Lola

For Christmas Auntie Whit gave Grace a gift card for Build-A-Bear with the intent that Grace and Whitney would go together while she is in town. So this morning, I loaded up the girls and headed out to meet Whitney at Arrowhead Mall.

If you have never been to Build-A-Bear, you actually build the bear from the skin up. First you pick the shell if you will, of the bear (or dog, penguin, rabbit or monkey etc...). Then you take it to be stuffed and you put it's heart in. The heart is wished upon by the child, then kissed, then placed into the chest of his/her bear or animal. Then you give your bear or animal a bath. Finally you dress your bear or animal. Grace LOVES teddy bears. I was so excited that Whitney was going to do this with her God-daughter because Grace is so in love with her Teddy's and this was going to be one more very special teddy bear... However, Grace loves to surprise me.

Grace picked a Hot Pink Monkey. Yup, not a bear, but a Hot Pink Monkey! (It's actually pretty cute) And in spite of Whitney's prompting to build a bear and pointing out other various animals, Grace had made up her mind. Lily and I stood back letting the two of them have this time together and watched as they brought 'Lola' to life. Grace's favorite part i think was bathing and brushing 'Lola'. It was a memory that I will cherish forever! And 'Lola' has not been out of Grace's sight or arms since.
