Last night was Grace's neighborhood birthday party. It was a blast! HOT, but a blast!! Brian got to show off and use our new built in bar and BBQ. The grill master cooked up chicken and steak fajitas for us and they were yummy! About 19 of our friends, family and neighborhood buddies showed up to help Grace celebrate (for the 3rd time in a month!!). We set up the bounce house and got a chance to catch up with the neighbors. It was a good night.
I was so busy socializing that I forgot to take any pictures and Brian was so busy at the grill that he didn't have a free minute to take any pictures, but imagine this... 4 girls between the ages of 20 months and 3 years running around, bouncing in the bounce house, creating chalk art on the pavers and hugging. These girls love their group hugs. it's very cute! And then we had a 2 week old baby, 2 month old baby, two 6 month old babies and a 9 month old baby, all girls! I am starting to be concerned for the future of mankind, these days it's more like womankind. There are no boys anywhere these days. In our little circle of friends there are two boys... that's it, just two. I am not sure if I should say poor Vincent and Landon, or lucky Vincent and Landon! Our neighborhood is simply overflowing with girls.
Last night was the first time Grace slept in the bed with us. Grace, has slept with me only once before while Brian was out of town. I, we have been adamantly against having the kids sleep in the bed, but were aware that there would be times that it was necessary. Last night was one of them. It was over 100 yesterday. It has started to stay hot at night, so the time to be outside is almost over. Last night was pushing it a bit. The girls spent almost the entire party outside. We did not set up the bounce house until the sun was off the yard, but still... Brian was amazing with staying on top of Grace's and the girls' water consumption. Every few minutes he stopped the play, passed out sippy cups of water and had them drink, but even still the signs of dehydration and heat exhaustion showed up last night. Grace woke up about an hour after we put her down, whimpering and crying saying she hurt and clearly did not feel well. We tried to get her to drink more water, milk, pedialite, anything but were mostly unsuccessful. She simply could not calm herself enough to sleep. She seemed like she was going to get sick a few times and it was all pretty heartbreaking. So into the big bed with Mommy and Daddy and around 12:30am she finally drifted off to sleep. Seems to be better today, but summer is going to be tough this year with an active little girl wanting to play outside...
Full day, fun day, good birthday and next year... pool party!

Glad you guys had fun :) Sorry we missed it...after a quiet day, Maya had a BLOW OUT that made us decide not to risk sharing the joy with everyone -- espeically Charlee!!!! Happy Birthday, Grace :)
Keeping the kids out of the bed is a good plan. We occassionally give it a pass, mostly when it is 3 am and there is crying and we're not awake enough to come up with a better solution. It has been even less frequent since I took the foot to the ribs that took over a week for the pain to go away.
May your water flow freely.
